Critics may criticize the unfortunate aspects of our country but, from many other aspects, Pakistan is fortunate enough. One of these is to be the home to abundantly talented individuals who need to be brought to the limelight and presented to the world so that they bring glory and positivity to our country.

Iqra Shaikh is one such budding talent of Pakistan. A self-taught, beginner digital artist and a good one at her work indeed. Piñata was fortunate enough to have discovered this rising artist and had a conversation with her. To find out what it was about, keep reading.

1) How did you become a digital artist? Did you take any classes or are you self-taught?

I haven’t taken any classes. I do not have a diploma in arts or digital drawings. To be honest, it has been just a month since I started drawing, I was so obsessed with all these artworks I see on Instagram and I wanted one for myself, so I downloaded a few applications and software, practiced and this is how I started.

2) According to you, what role does an artist play in the society?

I believe an artist expresses his emotions and feelings through his paintings and artworks.

3) Do you love traveling? Share the most memorable moment from your trip to.

I am not a huge fan of traveling but I surely love meeting new people. I belong to a patriotic family so, my trip to Wagah Border last year is my most favorite and memorable trip until now. The love, unity, and patriotism I saw in my countrymen that day made me so happy and proud.

I believe that very few people find peace in their work. Art is something that makes people fall in love with the artist just by seeing his work and this is why I wanted to become an artist.

5) What do you do passionately beside drawing?

Besides drawing, I do photography and I write, blogs, articles, and storylines.

6) Who’s your favorite living artist?

My favorite artist is Muniba Mazari. That woman has so much art inside her, she is so talented, I believe she’s a magician. Her paintings actually speak!

7) What is your dream project?

I do not have a dream project, right now. I just have an aim to do what I want to do and work hard.

To be honest, all my drawings are my favorite because I put a lot of effort and do my best in each and every one of them.

Seeing such honesty and enthusiasm for her work, this little chat with Iqra inspired us a lot. We wish her a bright and successful future ahead. Cheers!
