Held on the first Monday of May, the 6th, fashion industry’s biggest night ‘The Met Gala’ was a star-studded and artsiest fashion event last night. The most dramatic pink carpet moments and every celebrity’s own take on the theme ‘Camp’ was a tremendous effort and a mesmerizing feeling to witness.
There were some of the best-dressed celebrities who really went all the way in ‘Camp’ and made a remarkable performance (not just an appearance). There were some who didn’t really give us the feels. And then there were those who literally stole the show.
A little about the Met Gala:
If you don’t already know, Met Gala is the annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It is the biggest event of the fashion industry and marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.
Every year it follows a set theme, which is curated in its own way by every attendee into their costume for the night. This year the theme was ‘Camp’ based on a 1964 essay written by a literary critic Susan Santog. If you’d like to know more about the theme please read our article here.
Let’s dive right into the Night:
Here are all the looks from last night that caught our attention.
Her cinematic entrance onto the pink carpet was literally everything. Wearing Brandon Maxwell, she entered with five dancers, makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, and her personal photographer to capture every move in her live performance. Her change from the pink dress to a black dress, then stripping down into a pink gown and then revealing a bit more skin was a speechless performance.
The Tennis Star Serena Williams wore Nike sneakers with a Versace yellow gown.
The former One Direction singer wore a Black Sheer Gucci outfit with high heels and some very pretty jewelry.
In a red Gucci outfit, Jared Leto took Camp to the next level with his accent accessory.
Did Billy Porter try to pull off Lady Gaga level of extra?
His take on Ancient Egypt and being carried onto the pink carpet was a glorious moment to see.
Celine Dion wearing this gorgeous Oscar de la Renta and killing ‘Camp’.
One word = Wow!
Saoirse Ronan wore this gorgeous Gucci and killed it at the ‘Camp’ like a goddess.
Miley Cyrus unexpectedly kept it low, wearing Saint Laurent.
With a custom Gold Michael Kors, Emily Blunt simply slayed. Doesn’t she resemble an Oscar?
Hailey Bieber wore Alexander Wang and might we say, we quite like the elegance of her dress.
Her hair goes so well with her dress! Cute!
Gigi’s custom Michael Kors didn’t really say much but her lashes! OH MAN!
The literal Cinderella and a Fairy Godmother as well, Zendaya’s lighted up dress was a Disney Dream.
Katy Perry stuck with the theme dressed as a Chandelier in Moschino.
This was bold but beautiful!
Considering it was Cardi B’s second Met Gala, she really outdid the theme with this red Thom Browne. It was made evident that she really knows how to do a theme.
The Kardashians did not disappoint at all. From Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s colorful feathered twinning to Kim’s Ocean-soaked look and Kris Jenner’s Blonde hair appearance, they did the theme well.
Dua Lipa and Deepika Padukone dressed as ‘Barbie’ for the theme, it might be the safest play but they did it well.
The Couple that stole the night:
Jughead and Betty have the cutest chemistry outside of Riverdale as well; they looked their best at the Met Gala and stole our hearts.
J Lo’s Silver Versace dress and sky-high holographic heels are definitely from a future time-zone. She was the eye-candy of the night.
Ezra Miller’s incredible look was probably the campiest look of the night.
Darren Criss really knows fashion and isn’t afraid to embrace it. From his jacket to the large bow on top of it and his incredibly black shoes, everything was just perfect.
Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner:
The newly-weds matched on the Met Gala and they deserve a mention.
